2019 Crest Hill All-Star Baseball:

Crest Hill won the 14U Pony Region at Kankakee to advance to the Pony Zone starting Thursday in Bay City, Michigan with the winner advancing to the Pony World Series in Washington, Pennsylvania. Crest Hill started Tournament play last Thursday in Kankakee with a come from behind win over Kankakee . Kankakee scores two runs in the bottom of the first & had runners on the corners with one out. Jeremy Robinson came in to relieve starter Nate Cronin . He struck out the first batter he faced & catcher Nick  Perez picked off the runner at first to get Crest Hill out of the inning without allowing Kankakee to extend their lead. Robinson pitched the rest of the game allowing 2 hits & striking out 10 & allowing no runs. Catcher Nick Perez threw out 2 base runners attempting to steal. Crest Hill cut the lead in half when 2nd baseman Colin Sanchez singled in Jonah Linko. In the 6th inning Joseph Hauter singled in Linko to tie the game at 2. In the top of the 7th Dominick Frcek scored on Dom Williams single for a 3 to 2 Crest Hill lead. Robinson & Williams both scored when DJ Shiffer laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt.  Crest Hill defeated Bradley on Friday night 9 to 2. Dom Williams was the winning pitcher & he helped his own cause with a single & double.   Luke Nolan , Linko, & Hauter added Hits. Colin Sanchez pitched the 6th inning & Nate Cronin pitched the 7th . Both allowed no hits & no runs. In the Championship game Crest Hill defeated Eastern Illinois 9 to 0. Dom Williams had a double, Perez, Robinson, Sanchez, & Nolan all had hits.   In the 6th inning of the Kankakee game shortstop Niko Frcek pulled a quad muscle running to first base & will not be able to play in Bay City.  Nick Fields plays first base & made a outstanding play on a foul pop up almost taking down the first base dugout. On vacation & missing the Pony Region Tournament at Kankakee we’re John O’Brien & Chase Manegold. Both will be rejoining the team & going to Bay City. The Coaches are Dave Williams & Damon Shiffer, the Manager in his 40th season is Joe Marshall.  Catcher Nick Perez did not allow a stolen base in three games throwing out 4 runners attempting to steal & was outstanding behind the plate especially considering how hot it was during the tournament. The pitchers for Crest Hill are Jeremey Robinson, Dom Williams, Nate Cronin, & Colin Sanchez.  Also Luke Nolan, DJ Shiffer, John O’Brien, & Chase Manegold will pitch if needed.  Crest Hill plays in Bay City on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, with the Championship game on Sunday.
